The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has approved the following health claims for pectins:

  • With a daily intake of 6 g, pectins contribute to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels
  • Consuming 10 g of pectins as part of a meal helps to reduce the rise in blood sugar levels after a meal

There is a risk of choking if there is difficulty swallowing or insufficient fluid intake!
It should always be taken with plenty of water.
