Melatonin

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has authorised the following health claims for this ingredient:

Melatonin helps to alleviate the subjective feeling of jet lag if at least 0.5 mg is taken on the first day of travelling shortly before going to bed and on the first few days after arriving at the destination

Melatonin helps to shorten the time it takes to fall asleep if 1 mg of melatonin is taken shortly before going to bed
