N-acetyl-L-cysteine (also known as NAC) is the N-acetylated, highly effective form of L-cysteine and is very bioavailable.

NAC is more stable than normal L-cysteine and prolongs the effect of the amino acid in the production of glutathione, which is involved in numerous important processes in the body and also has an antioxidant effect.
